Player Profile: Chad Billingsley

I have eleven cards of Chad Billingsley. This one is from 2011 Bowman.

Playing career: Chad Billingsley came up with the Dodgers in 2006 and had excellent seasons in 2007 and 2008, going 12-5, 3.31 and 16-10, 3.14. Though he was unable to keep up those gaudy numbers, he stayed a solid member of the starting rotation for the next four seasons – 12-11, 12-11, 11-11 and 10-9 with ERAs in the high 3s and low 4s. Unfortunately an elbow injury required Tommy John surgery in 2013.

Where he is now: Continuing to rehab, he hopes to rejoin the Dodgers within the next few weeks.

My memories: No specific memories. I used to always get him confused with Clayton Kershaw before Kershaw became a huge star.

Google Autocomplete results: He is second when you type Chad B, between Chad Bradford, the former A’s pitcher, and Chad Bleach, referring to a character on an anime program. There do not appear to be any other prominent Chad Billingsleys.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Greg Billo.
