Had a bit of an adventure with my most recent Diamond Jesters time travel trade.
It starts off simply enough, with a neat 1980s oddball of Mark Gastineau in an action shot against the Chargers.
Another Chargers related card, this is one of the most spectactular shiny cards I've ever seen.
Now the adventure begins. One card I claimed that I had already, this 1962 Post Jim Gentile. Why claim a card I already had?
Because stuck to the back was a 1963 Gentile Topps Peel-Off, which I did not have. This certainly created a dilemma for me. Should I just keep the Peel-Off attached to the Post? Because the Post is blank backed, I had the idea that maybe I could carefully cut away a thin layer of cardboard on the back of the Post, and not really change the condition of the card. It didn't even occur to me to try to just peel-off a sticker that had been attached for 50 years.
However, when I started looking for a clean place to start cutting, to my surprise a corner of the peel-off came off easily. I kept pulling and it came off very cleanly with no issues at all! Both the peel-off and Post card are still quite sticky, but putting them in plastic sleeves save that problem. I'm impressed that whatever adhesive Topps was using in 1963 was still so effective 60 years later. (Who knows what chemicals they were using?) Now the peel-off is free and I have an extra Post card to trade. (I'll swap this one into my collection and trade the non-sticky one.)

The floating head Peel-Off is cool. I'm off to COMC to see if I can find a cheap copy (of a player I'm interested in) for my collection.
