Last time gum triumphed, 6-3. Who will come out on top this time?
These photos look like they were taken at the same time. However, the lighting appears to be quite different. I see three possibilities - #1, different ways the card was printed; #2, different photographers with different equipment shooting at the same time; #3, the sun came out from behind the clouds between shots.
Al Fitzmorris made his debut in the Royals' first season, 1969, and his last season with the Royals was their first pennant, 1976. That year manager Whitey Herzog left Fitzmorris off the postseason roster, and after the season the Royals let Fitzmorris go in the expansion draft. Toronto drafted him and immediately traded him to Cleveland for Alan Ashby. Fitzmorris pitched two seasons for the Indians and Angels before retiring with a 77-59 record and 3.65 ERA in 288 games. He now lives in Kansas where he owns a construction company and coaches youth baseball.
Gum!

ReplyDeleteGoing with gum
ReplyDeleteI'll go gum. Hate to pick against a patriotic color scheme on this date, but the Topps colors look better.
ReplyDeleteI'll go cake because you see the full "Kansas City" text on the front of the jersey, plus the sweet batting glove.
