The front: Nice action pose. Not sure of the location.
The back: Castillo grew up in Los Angeles and frequently
went to games at Dodger Stadium. As a Dodger, he taught the screwball to
teammate Fernando Valenzuela, who used it to great success.
The player: Castillo had flashes of success as a reliever
for the Dodgers (2-0, 7 saves, 1.11 ERA in 1979) and as a starter for the Twins
(13-11, 3.66 ERA in 1982). Overall, in his nine year major league career, he
appeared in 250 games (59 stars), going 38-40 with 18 saves and a 3.94 ERA.
The man: After his retirement he stayed active in a number
of Dodgers-related community activities. He died of cancer in 2014.
My collection: I have 19 of his cards, from 1979 to 1986. I
would be interested in trading for 1983 Fleer Star Stickers #139.
