The front: Photobomb! Any idea who that is sneaking behind
Jackson?
The back: Jackson and Lemon were part of the large group of
MLB players that came out of Los Angeles in the late 1970s and early 1980s,
including Hall of Famers Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith. In my 2013 interview with Jackson, he wrote that he liked Murray’s card in this set because it
mentioned the fact that they went to high school together.
The player: Jackson pitched for five seasons for the Twins,
going 20-27 with a 4.38 ERA. His best season was 1980, when he went 9-9 with a
3.87 ERA.
The man: He is now the Founder and President of the 10-20
Club, which provides early intervention to youth at-risk for joining gangs, as
well as classes and other community service offerings in Downey, CA.
My collection: I have eight of his cards, from 1979 to 1982.
I would be interested in trading for 1979 TCMA Toledo Mud Hens #18.
