First off, I have started a new blog. It has nothing to do with baseball cards - it is a block-by-block look at a video of a walk through Manhattan in 1968. Goes from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park. If anyone is interested in checking it out the link is https://1968nyc.wordpress.com/
This post is about Long Island, though. The East River Savings Bank was originally chartered in 1848, and lasted for 140 years before changing its name to River Bank America in 1988. In 1996 the bank was acquired by Marine Midland. Behind a Blinds to Go in Valley Stream you can still make out the labelscar from the East River Savings Bank sign, a sign which must have come down 30 years ago.
