My time travel trade with Diamond Jesters this month came with an unexpected Yankees bonus! I had sent Matt a few extra Red Sox cards last time, and he sent me this really nice serial numbered Ron Guidry card!
Everything from the time travel section this week was football. And why waste time thinking about a team that might commit more errors than hits this series, when I can enjoy the 3-1, sole-possession-of-first-place Giants? It may not be sustainable but it sure is fun. Ironically almost all of these cards are from the Giants' opponent this week, from back when they had a name even stupider than "Commanders".
That is a nice Guidry, and I still have my original Jeff George Collect-a-Books from my childhood. Found it in the crawl space of my mom's attic before she moved.
ReplyDeleteThe Sox are not a legit playoff team. They might be in a couple years. I'm not embarrassed (though I am annoyed) the Yanks swept them. I'm embarrassed that they're not even the best Sox in these playoffs.
I love the early 90's Collect-a-Books. It would be really cool to see someone start a blog focusing on all of those boxed sets.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! The Sox played like they did for 2/3 of the season, so it was a disappointing but not unexpected short Wild Card Series. Wasn't expecting your team to roll over versus the Rays though...
