Getting near the end of this series.
Petrocelli was from Sheepshead Bay, Koufax was from Bensonhurst. Fairly near each other but definitely not "the same section" or even neighboring. Former Yankee pitcher Bots Nekola was a former Yankee pitcher who became a Red Sox scout, stealing Brooklyn star Petrocelli and Long Island star Yastrzemski out of the Yankees' backyard and into Boston. Imagine if they were Yankees instead of Red Sox, how differently the 1960s might have been in the American League. That first panel is completely made up - Petrocelli never missed a month after being hit by a pitch (well, he would in 1972, but that hadn't happened yet). My best guess is that the artist somehow confused him and Tony Conigliaro.Bass drums and oil drums. Nice way to close it out.

I wonder if he's still in the oil business. I tried to look it up on wiki, but didn't see anything.
