1986 Spokane Indians at the Mall - Ricky Bones

Were black and white flowery women's blouses a fashion trend in 1986?

Ricky Bones was one of the most successful players to come out of this set. After working his way up through the Padres organization, he was one of three prospects that the team traded to Milwaukee for Gary Sheffield in March of 1992. (All three - Bones, Matt Mieske and Jose Valentin, had good careers for the Brewers). He had double-digit win totals from 1993-1995, with 1994 being his only All-Star appearance. He slumped in 1996, going just 7-14. Late in the season the Brewers traded Pat Listach and Graeme Lloyd to the Yankees, but Listach turned out to be damaged goods so the Brewers sent Bones to the Yankees to make up for it. In just seven innings for the Yankees he had a 14.14 ERA. He pitched for four more teams over the next five years but was never able to duplicate the success he had in Milwaukee. Overall in 375 games (164 starts) he went 63-82 with a 4.85 ERA. After his playing days he was a long-time bullpen coach for the Mets, and since 2022 has held that role for the Nationals.
