Player Profile: Chad Bradford

I have five cards of Chad Bradford. This one is from 2003 Topps.

Playing career: Chad Bradford was one of the more prominent middle relievers of the 2000’s. In 561 games he went 36-28 with 11 saves and a 3.26 ERA. He pitched in the postseason for five different teams (White Sox, A’s, Red Sox, Mets and Rays) between 2000 and 2008, allowing just one earned run in 23.1 innings. He was a prominent figure in the Moneyball book and movie.

Where he is now: An assistant coach at Hinds Community College in Mississippi.

My memories: I remember him before the Moneyball hoopla being known as the pitcher with the most extreme submarine motion in the majors – you would see a lot of pictures of him with his knuckles almost scraping the mound as he delivered.

Google Autocomplete results: He is first when you type Chad B, ahead of Chad Brown, a poker player.

Coming up next: The next profile will be Larry Bradford.
