Sonny Siebert was an excellent pitcher for some bad Cleveland and Boston teams in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He had eight straight seasons of double digit wins (1965-1972). A two-time All Star, he pitched a no-hitter in 1966 and was third in the AL in ERA in 1967. Overall in 399 games, including late-career stops in Texas, St. Louis, San Diego and Oakland, he went 140-114 with a 3.21 ERA. A good hitter for a pitcher, if not for a major leaguer, in 660 career at-bats he hit .173 with 12 HR and 57 RBI. He had a two-HR game for the Red Sox in 1971, the last by an American League pitcher until Shohei Ohtani did it in 2023. After his career he was a long-time coach in the Padres organization, and also owned a Baskin-Robbins and a newspaper distribution business. He is now retired and living in Missouri.
