I found another old Gimbels sign on my last trip into the city. I knew about this one for years, but it is only visible from inside the 33rd Street PATH Station, and I hadn't had a reason to take a PATH train until now. The 33rd Street PATH station is underneath the building that used to be the NYC flagship Gimbels, famously across the street from the even more famous Macy's. Passengers departing their train would pass this sign on their way out.
It makes me happy to see that there's still a remnant of this sign decades after the last Gimbels closed.
Wow, good eye, Bo. It's a shame that so much of the sign has been worn away.
