The front: Nice action shot at Shea Stadium. McBride is one
of those guys who always seemed to have a good photo. He was 5 for 11 with a
homer and 3 RBIs in three day games at Shea (August 16th and 17th)
in 1980.
The back: In 1980 McBride ranked second in RBIs on the team
to Mike Schmidt, who topped him by 34 (121 RBIs).
The player: The 1974 NL Rookie of the Year, McBride played
11 seasons for the Cardinals, Phillies and Indians. In 1,071 games he hit .299
with 63 HR, 430 RBI and 183 SB. He helped the Phillies win the 1980 World
Series, hitting .304 with 1 HR and 5 RBI in the fall classic.
The man: He was a minor league coach for a while but now
appears to be retired.
My collection: I have 18 of his cards, from 1974 to 1984. I
would be interested in trading for 1976 Topps #135.
