1981 Topps Mark Clear

The front: Got him in the dugout, an Angels jacket hanging behind him. Or maybe the photo is from inside the Angels clubhouse?

The back: Clear got a win or save in 28% of Angels wins in 1979, impressive because they were a first place team that year. They followed up that season with a terrible 1980, going 65-95. Clear had another good season, though, with a win or save in 31% of Angels wins that year.

The player: After his two excellent seasons with the Angels, Clear was traded to the Red Sox as part of a blockbuster deal involving Carney Lansford, Rick Burleson and Butch Hobson. He had a great 1982 season but otherwise struggled with his control. He also pitched three seasons in Milwaukee before returning to the Angels briefly in 1990.
The man: Clear went into the tree nursery business immediately after his baseball career and is currently president of Loma Vista Nursery, which operates primarily out of the Kansas City area.
My collection: I have 32 of his cards, from 1980 to 1989. I would be interested in trading for 1987 Fleer Star Stickers #23.
