Kirt Ojala was the Yankees' fourth-round draft pick in 1990 and spent six years in their organization, plus another in the Reds' organization, before moving to the Marlins in 1997, for whom he made his major league debut. He pitched in 56 games for Florida over three seasons, going 3-10 with a 4.72 ERA. Now the Vice President of Business Development at CD Barnes Construction in Grand Rapids, MI, he kindly answered my questions about baseball cards.
"I
was never a card collector and do not have any baseball cards. When I
got up to the Major Leagues in ’97, they had already done the printing
for the cards and in ’98, they explained that the card market was in a
downturn and they were only doing some veteran players and a couple of
rookies who were potential rookies of the year, so I didn’t make either
of those lists."
Thanks! Though he never had a major league card, he did have several minor league ones including this one from 1994 Fleer ProCards.
