Yesterday, I posted this card featuring Eric Davis wearing an Eric Davis Fan Club t-shirt.
I thought to look up the "Eric Davis Fan Club," see if there was any ephemera still out there. Quite to my surprise, the Eric Davis Fan Club still exists! Not only that, but it is one of the most unintentionally-funny baseball websites I have ever seen. His "Official SIte" invites you to "Join Eric Nation." There are three different levels of citizenship of Eric Nation. Guests pay $120 a year; VIPs $180 a year, or you can purchase an all-access pass for $240 a year. All three have varying amounts of memorabilia, newsletters, and the most incredible, discounts on merchandise. Why is that incredible? Because the only merchandise on the site is the fan club memberships.
What else is on the home page? Some links to his myspace, facebook, twitter, and the "Eric Davis Foundation - Eric Nation gives back", none of which work. The only links that do work are for his shop and "Get your Eric TV right now," which features Davis and some rappers at some red carpet function.
Best of all, the site proclaims that you can have a "webversation" with Eric - "call me anytime". The number? 555-555-5555. I don't think you need Dave Chappelle to tell you that that number isn't real.
