1981 Topps Tommy Boggs

The front: Following through the delivery at Shea Stadium. His powder blue uniform nicely matches the tarp and several caps in the stands. This would be July 31, 1980, when Boggs allowed three runs in 7.1 innings as the Braves lost to the Mets 3-0.

The back: Boggs was selected behind Bill Almon and ahead of Lonnie Smith in 1974. Other first-rounders the Rangers passed on included Dale Murphy, Garry Templeton, Lance Parrish, Willie Wilson and Rick Sutcliffe.

The player: 1980 looked to be a breakout year for Boggs (12-9, 3.42) but he had a disastrous 1981, going 3-13 with a 4.10 ERA. Injuries limited him to just 19 major league games after that.

The man: Boggs has been head baseball coach at Concordia University for the past ten seasons.

My collection: I have 12 of his cards, from 1977 to 1983. I would be interested in trading for 1985 TCMA Oklahoma City 89ers #7.

Big street trade

I finally completed my big street trade with Al. I picked out 29 cards and fortunately I needed all 29.
First row - X-fractor, Gold Signature, insert, press proof, Whitey Ford, numbered recent Donruss card, Ripken

Second row - A-Rod, Reggie, gold lettering parallel, chrome Aaron Hicks rookie, 2014 Topps set need, Kershaw, insert

Third and fourth rows - two from the Yankees team set, lots of those shiny "silver pack" cards from the last couple years, a George Brett insert, and (mostly out of the picture) a Yankee Stadium legacy card.

1981 Topps Keith Moreland

The front: Looks like he is at Shea Stadium.

The back: Game-winning RBI was an official MLB statistic from 1981 to 1989.
The player: Keith Moreland was a backup catcher for the Phillies in 1980 and 1981. Traded to the Cubs after the 1981 season, he was moved to the outfield and blossomed into a power threat, hitting 100 home runs in six seasons in Chicago. His best season was 1985, when he hit .307 with 14 HR and 106 RBI. He ended his career with stints in San Diego, Detroit and Baltimore.

The man: Moreland, a three-time All-American at the University of Texas, is now a college baseball analyst for ESPN.

My collection: I have 48 of his cards, from 1981 to 1990. I would be interested in trading for 1983 Fleer Star Stickers #125.
