Trade with Dime Boxes

Trade packages from Nick of Dime Boxes are always awesome. This most recent one was no exception. There were about 100 cards, all of them fantastic. Here are just a few highlights.

The foil parallels from both years of Summit just might be my favorite parallels. They are extremely colorful and shiny.
How did I not have this card before? It is one of the classic unlicensed cards of the 1980s.
I found this photo strangely captivating. It is a sample card from Megacards, and the back discusses how they acquired the original photographic image from the famous Honus Wagner card, and enhanced it to make it look like a modern photograph. It was really well done. Also, notice their is no "PITTSBURG" written across the jersey - that was added to the photograph when the card was produced.
 Three fantastic Nolan Ryan cards.
Nick sent some vintage too. Readers of his blog know he recently came into some 1970 O-Pee-Chee. He kindly sent me a few. Here is a side-by-side comparision of Carlos May to show you how they altered the card back to fit in all the French.
The biggest highlight of the package was this trio of Yankee legends. Moose Skowron, Elston Howard, and my first ever Don Larsen card.

  1. Shiny parallels, a Broder, and some vintage... sounds like a nearly perfect trade! That Honus is especially interesting, can't say that I've ever seen anything like that before.

  2. Bart Simpson and Bo Jackson on a card. Lots of star power back then. Heh.
